The ingredients needed to make Coconut Tamarind chutney:
  1. Prepare 1 fresh coconut
  2. Get 3-4 dry red chillies
  3. Prepare 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  4. Prepare Little tamarind
  5. Take as per taste Salt(as needed)
  6. Get as required Mustard seeds(as needed)
  7. Make ready Pinch Asafoetida
  8. Make ready 5-6 curry leaves

This chutney has tamarind and red chillies which gives it a sour and spicy taste. Grind coconut and green chillies with sufficient water to get a thick consistency. Splutter mustard seeds and some curry leaves in the oil. When done, add the coconut paste, some water if needed and salt to taste.

Instructions to make Coconut Tamarind chutney:
  1. In a blender take grated coconut + dry red chillies + red chilli powder + tamarind + salt and grind it to a nice paste-like chutney texture. (if water required we can add)
  2. To this give a tadka of Mustard seeds + hing (asafoetida) + curry leaves.
  3. Serve with idli, dosa.

Splutter mustard seeds and some curry leaves in the oil. When done, add the coconut paste, some water if needed and salt to taste. Serve the chutney with dosas or idli.
