Steps to make Sultani Dal:
  1. Wash tur dal, add turmeric and salt and pressure cook it until 5 whistles. Take it out in a pot. Now in a small plate put a hot red charcoal and add 1 teaspoon of ghee on it so that the smoke will start coming out. Cover the lid and leave it for 5 to 8 minutes. This will give a smoky flavour to the dal.
  2. Now in a bowl, mix milk, fresh cream and curd. Take out the charcoal from the pot of dal and add the milk mixture to it. Mix everything well and add water too. Now add clove and cardamom powder to it and simmer it on medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Now for tadka, take oil in a small pan and add cumin to it and let it cook until light brown in colour. Now add chopped onion to it and saute it until pink in colour. Add ginger, garlic and green chilli paste to it. Cook it for two minutes and add chopped green chillies and red chilli powder to it and turn off the heat. Pour this tadka over the prepared dal. Mix everything well.
  4. Serve sultani daal with jeera rice and paratha.
