  1. Soak idli rice for 5 hours. Udad Dal for 2 hours.
  2. In a mixer grind urad Dal to a fine batter, to this add rice and grind it. Add water if required or grinding is difficult.
  3. Take the batter in a bowl and add millet atta and mix well. Now add salt, black pepper, soda. Mix it well.
  4. If required add water make sure lumps are not formed. Batter should not be very thick or too much runny.
  5. Allow it to ferment for 8 Hours in a warm place.
  6. Grease the cups of the Idli maker. Pour the batter into each cup. Steam for 18 - 20 mins.
  7. Remove the idlis when slightly cool and serve with Sambar.
